Generation Z has an important impact on the development of the hospitality industry

Gen Z is growing and becoming immensely influential - it has grown with technology at their fingertips, they think in 4D, they wear a watch whose main function is not to tell the time, and they never take a bank card with them. Therefore, it is all the more important that hoteliers understand their target group, know their wants and needs, and respond accordingly.

It goes without saying that innovative technology is essential for any brand looking to serve Gen Z in the future. However, many do not realize how important it is for today's young people to be able to quickly get what they want just by holding a smartphone in their hands. It is no longer enough to have free internet in the hotel. The offerings should now be expanded to seamless Wi-Fi for multiple devices, glitch-free video streaming, and features that integrate with hotel systems such as mobile online check-in, keyless room access, instant bill payment and in-room ordering of any service. ...

The phrase “there's an app for that” is a Gen Z lifestyle. Brands that don't have apps to book, order, and their loyalty programs are likely to be outdated for this audience. And since many young people can already write their own mobile apps in an hour or two, they simply won't get serious about any big brand that can't grasp the idea.

With Generation Z approaching, hotel brands looking to stay relevant and competitive in the future don't have much time to prepare for this audience. At the very least, hoteliers should consider whether they are on their way to this new market segment.
